Your everyday is everything. Choosing the right photographer to capture
your family in action also matters. A lot.

What type of photography do you do?

I'm a documentary and fine art photographer. I specialize in telling stories with an intuitive and engaging photographic style and love to capture everything from the everyday to special events. I’ve been photographing my own family since my first child was born in 2001. My family pictures have found their way into my fine art projects, onto gallery walls, in the pages of magazines and countless photobooks.

Now that my boys are older, I am BEYOND GRATEFUL to have made as many photographs as I did since those years cannot be replicated. Our children change so quickly and next thing you know, they’ve grown up and out. Our time living with them under the same roof is precious. We all know that having family photographs is important but someday, I promise, these photographs will mean everything to you.

What will you photograph while you’re here?

I recommend some sort of activity that helps everyone have a good time and forget about the camera. Baking, board games, playtime, crafts, playground fun or even having a session during your morning routine making pancakes are all are great examples of what you could do together. The idea is to look at your family through a truer lens. Anything goes so long as we keep it real.

Will you ask us to pose?

I would prefer that you just be yourselves. You should tell your kids that you’re going to spend a fun day together doing some of their favorite activities. Mention that your friend, Andi, will be coming over to take pictures of this amazing day. Then afterwards, you’ll have all these cool pictures to enjoy. You don’t have to pretend I’m not there. I won’t be an awkward person hiding in the corner, I’ll be interacting with your family. If requested, 15 minutes can be allotted for a few relaxed family portraits. The rest of our time together is for your family to have fun and enjoy a great day of hanging out.

I’m worried that my kids will have a meltdown.

I believe that when we let kids be who they are it will result in the most magical and surprising moments. This is the best way to capture genuine smiles, laughter, and real emotion instead of those fake photo smiles we’re so used to seeing. If your kids act out, that’s totally okay. It’s just another part of the day, and your story.

How long will our session last?

I offer packages that vary in length from 2 hours to all day long (8+ hours). Each of my Documentary Family packages comes with an beautiful, photo-driven, custom-designed book. You will also receive a flash drive with fully-edited, high-resolution digital files of every image that appears in your book. Yes, these files are yours to keep and enjoy for your personal use, for all eternity.

What should we wear?

To have an honest record of your family, you should dress like you do every day. No need to worry about what you’re going to wear. These sessions are not about looking perfect. You will look your best, and happiest, when surrounded by your favorite people in the world.

Do you do maternity and newborn sessions?

I offer several different sessions for maternity, couples and newborns. These sessions are tailored to your suit needs and can happen at home or in the hospital within 48 hours after delivery. Hospital and in-home newborn sessions tend to last about an hour. These sessions include a selection of fully-edited, high-resolution digital files. A custom-designed book is not included in these sessions but can easily be added to your package.
